Vital support for Traumatic Brain Injuries and Concussions
Welcome to my fundraising page for TBI critical care at the MGH.
At the age of sixteen, I endured a 14-hour long brain surgery and underwent a gruelling rehabilitation period. When rehab began, I did it alongside another boy who was the same age as me. Fast forward a few months, I had progressed to the point of skating back on the ice and competing as a hockey goaltender when the other boy had not met the basic milestones that were important for his rehabilitation post-surgery. Bearing witness to this impacted me on a very deep level and ignited my passion for raising TBI awareness, the importance of follow up and rigorous rehabilitation. I am grateful to the support I had around me which played a major role in my successful rehabilitation. Today, I want to ensure that every person is given the same support I was given.
The funds raised will be targeted to support Dr. Rotem Ayalon's 2 year Fellowship in Trauma and ICU Care at the Montreal General Hospital. Fellowships are a crucial part of medical residents' training and core to the Montreal General Hospital's mission as a teaching hospital; in addition to the education aspect, these opportunities enhance the care provided at the MGH and create lifelong relationships with other leading centres around the world, for on-going exchange and learning.
Together we can make a difference, let's offer vital support for vital care!
Thank you!
